The Craziness Continues…

Filed under: Music Postings — chitlenz @ 10:04 am

Well, as you may have noticed from the top of my page, this is ALSO a blog about electronic music and the so-called ‘rave’ scene, a community of people of which I consider myself a member.  Since the early 1990s, when rave music came to prominence and then fell to its children as Drum and Bass, Goa, Breaks, House, etc., I have collected rare dance music on vinyl (specifically on vinyl! mp3s suck!).  For the last 10 years, my trusty Numark Matrix3 mixer served me well, but I never quite warmed up to it and its sticky crossfader =)

Thus last week, when the damn thing finally gave out on the left channel once and for all, I bought a replacement.  Guitar Center had a deal, 329$ + shipping for a little known product from a famous brand.  After quickly researching online (particularly youtube) I bought myself a new Korg Kaoss 402 4-channel digital mixer (with effects!).  It’s a paradigm leap for me as a hobbyist dj, and it is much needed since I have been recently out on the rave scene again, making friends with the local djs and warming up to playing undergraound parties again.  You are NEVER too old to be a good dj =) Not even at 38.

Anyway, Juli hates my music, but if I can still collect records through 13 years of (mostly blissful!!) marriage to a person who HATES (I mean it, she really HATES dance music, preferring …say.. Pat Benetar =[…) my music, and I still have persisted, I submit that I am indeed a die-hard vinyl fan, and a true old-school rave kid =p

Anyway, here’s my setup, expect mixset posts soon (hence the audio tests last year) !!

Peace – chitlenz

I play Warcraft, like most social geeks these days, and I have noticed that occasionaly… ok wait more often than not, people get to chatting and say stupid things… like this:

Lost Marbles, our guild since Everquest back in the day (1999-ish), downed Sap with 2 drakes last night, the second hardest raid so far in Lich King, moving on up!

Oh and John and I have a Battleground arena team now, and we won our first 2v2 arena last night, woot!

Getting almost epic now heh

This year should be better than the last few for small business with a little luck, BUT what is of course more critical is that the Jeep trails at Uwharrie open Apr 1 =)

These are some pictures we took last year.

Yes that is me k thx.

We’re starting to try to explain STAIR

Filed under: Internal Users — chitlenz @ 4:06 pm

This may seem like an easy feat for most folks, to explain their jobs, but when you work on future products with markets that don’t exist or in which the technology of the software is just emerging it gets … difficult.

Here are some early screenshots of the 3 montor Northstar PACS system we are shortly finalizing for FDA approval.  Enjoy =)

Faaaaaaasst Forward

Dr. Deponte’s STAIR installation at several hospitals in Wellmont’s Appalachian chain has gone well so far, with almost no interruption of her coverage through the process of helping the doc at Lee retire.  Now, the plot thickens!  The trip to DC after Norton has yielded a spot on the floor at a big defense show coming up in Florida next month to show and sell PACS to the military.  I can’t wait =)

My name is Jim Owen, and I am the Database Architect and principle systems designer here at STAIR Systems.  The coming months represent a challenge for us to capture our ideas and thoughts from the last 3 years as we start to slowly document the STAIR Project.  It’s been a long road, and it still is a long road for awhile yet, but STAIR has bit by bit become a superior software product.

The STAIR /devlogs allow me to communicate what is going on in the guts of the system to users and admins, that they will understand the logic and structure going forward.

STAIR has been a blast to write, and if the docs who uses it are any indication, we have a bright future coming!

Please feel free to start (or continue) a narrative here regarding anything at all =)
