OK, it’s been a weird and fun Xmas, and now that STAIR has finished our FDA 510k Class2 filing , I should have more time to write a bit more and cleanup the websites.
On the music side, EyelidMovies is still going well, and we have all individually (me, Lumiel/Pan13, and Mike Brown are EyelidMovies by the way) been playing out over the last few months as we wait for Mike’s triumphant return from Barcelona… I got KRKs and a Matching sub for Xmas, and I just this last weekend had the time to get everything up and tuned correctly. I still have some wiring to do, but now I can record and practice at home again, which is cool.
On the PACS side of things, man I have to say I had no idea we were going to get this complicated 5 years ago when I took this job. It’s been a strange… strange trip indeed, but we have our product out the door pending a response from the FDA (crosses fingers… we’ll know in 60-90 days), so revision 2.9x of the STAIR PACS is slowly winding down. Whew, I need a drink =!

I’m at the beach this week, so I just left these as they were when I got them (ie, some folks have like a minute lead in and all). I’ll clean them up and add cue files next week for other folk’s stuff, but for now, I can only break up my own (which I will do later today if I can). For now, if you want to make a cd of an mp3 recording on this page, you will find the raw mp3 files HERE FOR DOWNLOADS or you can hear the sets streamed on my main Mixset Download Page
This set was recorded live 7-7-2009 in Greensboro, NC.

I’m a gamer in the purist sense, in that I need for the engine to be perfect in order to enjoy games anymore. I think this is a consequence of having worked with Direct3d for too long in a critical role (looking for bugs), which makes it so that I end up noticing the bugs not the game most of the time. To this end, I am down to World of Warcraft, which I need to play more of so that my long time friends and guildmates The Lost Marbles can proceed with raiding through the Lich King expansion, and to the game I want to note today.
I LOVE to drive. This isn’t news to people who know me well. For the last 5 years, I have managed to stay sane through what has become a 2 hour commute by trying to choose cars wisely (I think…Juli may disagree) which I enjoy. Most Racing simulators never get the feel of speed right. I remember a few years ago when the Wipeout series first came out, and what was remarkable about it, aside from the amazingly forward thinking soundtrack and futuristic graphic design, was the drifty feel of the controls, and the amazing sense of realistic speed the desgners were able to convey.
As a programmer, I have long meant to revisit Wipeout as a hobby project, but then a few years ago I stumbed across Trackmania… And Oh My God….
There are no other racing games. Period.
I will be posting interesting tidbits about my progress in Trackmania.. as a lowly American Sunrise Racer.

Heyas, I have begun a running page for remarks I jotted down as I was cleanup up my own pc recently. For folks with bad skillz on the pc homefront, I give you the Chitlenz guide to …uhhh… guides to fixing windows which altogether form a checklist for fixing a lot of commons problems. So enjoy, and please post comments here.

Pan-13 Practice
From this weekend on (ok mayyyyybe Monday night =) the new crew site at Eyelidmovies.com should be live!
For those who don’w know me/us, I am chitlenz (psytrance), and my mix partners are Pan13 (DnB, progressive) and DJ Mike Brown (”Brownie” DnB, Breaks). I note the styles we play with a caveat that Greensboro is a Drum and Bass town (I’ve been forced to adopt Liquid as of late, and I’m really liking it, it’s like psytrance with broken beats!!), so look for that type of groove over there.
I will be managing the site, and my partners will have Wordpress blogs coming online shortly!
That and when we rent our Sound and lighting/lasers out, we offer live recording as a service to our friends and customers =)
Wiggs, I’ll be posting the video and more pictures on the main site in the next few days.

Ok Friday went ok… sort of. The PA was a gerbil-powered Russian affair with exposed wiring and the whole bit, but the venue was great, and we should be doing a monthly starting next month, with more promotion and a better sound system (plus lights and with a little luck a projector). The music, however was good, and people danced even though the PA hummed a bit. Thanks to the folx who came out who knew us, especially since none of ya’ll was seen fleeing the patio covering your ears!
So, it’s me, Mike, and the new guy is Pan13, and DnB/Trance guy who we really seem to click with musically. Mike and I and him are now setup on 4 tables at Pan’s house, and between us we have a good bit of the lighting and sound, including a kickin pro Cerwin Vega PA and Yamaha Monitors. It’s just about a complete studio over there, and production should be forthcoming shortly I believe. Anyway, we practive 3 out and 1 out a lot so far, which is a kind of DJ throw catch between records. So Mike mixes into a record I’m playing, then I mix back, etc. The BEST WAY EVAH to practice beatmixing skills, plus it should make for a hell of a live show, since we can sort of scratch and sample into each other’s mixes.
Anyway, with the PA problems came a shortage of both plug adapter’s and cables, so no recording, since the PA ate all the splitters, leaving none for the laptop. That said, once we get set here shortly, we should be turning out production quality mixsets. Seriously fun!

Wow, Long time to update. All of my plans to go home to see Mom in Memphis this April… well last April now, fell apart in the push to finish up Cosmos and get the code production ready. We are >< this close now. Anyway, I’m going to have to send some apology emails out and reschedule some stuff, but damn if that shit didn’t build.
On the music front, practice makes perfect so to speak, so I’m finally going to not be lazy this weekend and cleanup/post tonight’s mixsets. Oh yeah, we’re starting what we hope will be be a Monthly Friday at Club Solaris in Greensboro… ya’ll come !

I’m taking a laptop, and I’m sure someone will have a camera or phone or something, so I’ll post up the sessions as soon as I can break them up and figure out what the hell we played.
NO RAIN /shakes rain stick!

Mental notes: Gdpicture is a pain to deploy, figure out the ActiveX registration BS this weekend. Get back with Ger on the cleanup of the viewer code. Call Randy about the tape archive, and when to put the Server together correctly.

I’ll post some of the session excerpts when I can get a chance to edit it, but we were at it for 8 hours =0 so I’ll need to cut out some of the stuff, but there was some music made tonight, truly great mash-ups, I just hope audacity caught it all ok.
It was nice, I had to re-index the servers anyway, so the time was already gone, and it just worked out. The session was Me for maybe 3 hours, Jason for 2-3 hours, and Mike ‘Brownie’ Brown for a few hours, probably 2ish, so lots of music played, and it all sounded pretty damn good together. Jason pulled off some trance mixes with Tilt - Moving and some random House record that stopped all of us for a bit, really really smooth. It’s that kind of thing you get when good mixers get together and play for the hell of it. You take more chances, and the results can be really really cool. More later.

The ongoing saga of my search for rare or (in most cases) impossible to find trance vinyl is punctuated with this liveset excerpt by Nu-NRG in 2003 on Nova 969 radio live. This one segment contains not only one rare track I would love to own, but several which are now gone for whatever reason (End Kiss never saw a release, for no good reason except that the 2 guys that made up Nu NRG until they split in 2005 liked to keep a lot of their music private except during live performances).
These guys are some folks from Italy who made some amazing music in the early 2000s, landing on Paul Van Dyk’s Vandit label, and later moving many releases out on Chemical’s affiliate Monster Tunes, a great trance label if ever there was one. I have to say, given just one source for records I would take Chemical Records. Consistently good service for the last 10 years, nuff said.
So anyway, the fadein starts from
04. Jose Amnesia - The Eternal (Nu NRG remix)
05. Nu NRG - Connective
06. Three Drives - Carrera 2 (Nu NRG remix)
07. Nu NRG - End Kiss
Enjoy =)
